Meg Grigal


Meg Grigal, Ph.D. is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Community Inclusion at University Massachusetts Boston and the Co-Director of Think College, a national organization focused on research, policy and practice in inclusive higher education and people with intellectual disability. At Think College, she serves as a principal investigator on a variety of research grants including the Investing in Innovation (I3) funded Think College Transition Model Project, the Office of Postsecondary Education funded National Coordinating Center for the Transition Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID) Model Demonstration Programs and Co-Principal Investigator on the Office of Special Education Program funded Future Quest Island- Stepping Up to Technology project. Dr. Grigal has conducted multiple research projects on college and employment preparation on middle and high school student and has authored over 30 peer reviewed research articles and book chapter and co-authored two books on creating college access for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; Think College, and Transition Services for Students with Significant Disabilities in College and Community Settings. Dr. Grigal has extensive experience in providing professional development with K-12 educators and has worked with thousands of teachers to support evidenced based practice around career development and college access. She has also worked with families, first as a secondary special education teacher and more recently by conducting technical assistance and training with families around the country seeking information about better outcomes for their child. Dr. Grigal has consulted around the country and internationally on education and transition, employment, and inclusive higher education. She has held multiple positions on the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division of Career Development and Transition National Board and serves as a field reviewer for many peer reviewed journals. She recently co-produced Rethinking College, a short documentary on inclusive higher education. Dr. Grigal’s work has led to expansion of higher education options for students with intellectual disabilities throughout the US and internationally.

Press Release: Think College awarded $2.5M Stepping Up Technology Implementation Grant

Think College at the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) has been awarded a $2.5 million Stepping Up Technology Implementation Grant from the US Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs. The project will fund the development of Future Quest Island - Explorations: Advancing College and Career Awareness for Elementary Students with and without Disability. (10/2018)
