Assessment
Welcome to the Universal Course Design Assessment Strategies page!
Assessment should have one focus: Can the student answer the essential question correctly? However, the manner in which the essential question is asked and the characteristics of a satisfactory answer can change with each student and each course. There are multiple strategies available to instructors seeking to give students options and controls over various means of assessment.
The links marked Assessment Table and Interactive UCD Assessment Strategies contain the same information. They both identify desired outcomes as well as corresponding UCD assessment strategies to achieve those outcomes.
The difference between the 2 links is that the Instructional Assessment table is a standard Word document where the information is presented in a table format. The Interactive UCD Assessment Strategies link will take you to an interactive presentation or decision tree of the same information. Here, you can choose which desired outcome you wish to obtain strategies for and then see some corresponding examples.
