Katie Ashwill Allen has 9 years of experience working on accessibility and inclusion of individuals with disabilities. In her role as Knowledge Translation (KT) Associate, Katie works with the research, marketing and communications, and training/technical assistance teams to implement dissemination plans for various vocational rehabilitation-related projects using ExploreVR.org: an online research and technical assistance hub for VR agencies that provides a range of VR research, related data, and tools for VR planning, evaluation, and decision-making in accessible formats. Prior to her work at the ICI, Katie worked in various social service agencies, coordinating projects around providing accessible services for people with disabilities. Katie served as a board member on the Cambridge Commission for Persons with Disabilities, assessing local business accessibility and advocating for legislation that improves accessibility for people with disabilities in Massachusetts. Katie received her Master's in Social Work from the Boston University School of Social Work in 2013.
