MASSTART: Massachusetts Technology Assistance Resource Team

Children who have special health care needs or use medical technology can safely attend and succeed at their neighborhood school. MASSTART works collaboratively with families, clinicians, school staff, school nurses, early intervention providers, and community agencies to meet the needs of students. For instance, a student might have a feeding tube, a tracheostomy, a ventilator, supplemental oxygen, or an IV line, to name a few more common situations. ICI staff help the school team understand a student's needs, train personnel, help develop each student's individual health care and emergency plans, and provide information about useful community resources. MASSTART providers have extensive experience providing health care services to children and adolescents with a wide range of medical technology needs.

The staff at Children's Hospital clinical services team provides MASSTART services for greater Boston and the northeast region of the state; other health care providers cover southeast, central, and western Massachusetts.

MASSTART is sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
