The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services, with the support of the State Employment Leadership Network, is hosting regional employment forums. The purpose of the forums is to showcase practices that improve employment outcomes for people with developmental disabilities, and to promote information-sharing and local networking.

At this forum, we’ll focus on ways to support individuals with disabilities and their family members as agencies shift from center-based to community employment. Panelists will share strategies for communicating a pro-employment message, providing individuals with better exposure to work and the opportunities that lie ahead, and addressing concerns of job seekers and their families. The forum will provide ample opportunity for discussion and dialogue.

Forum Goals:

  • Bring together DDS staff, provider staff, advocates, and others to network and share effective practices.
  • Provide concrete strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities and their family members in the move to integrated employment.
  • Share examples of practices that can be used within current program models to help people with disabilities prepare for future employment opportunities.
