Doing It Better: Better Practices in Employment for a State/County Department of Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities

Monograph 16

Originally published: 1996

Suggested audiences:

This monograph reflects what we have learned about Better Practices that influence employment outcomes for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. It is designed with funders and program administrators in mind and includes the Institute's recommendations for program design, outcome indicators, and monitoring. The monograph highlights what is needed in a comprehensive system, including both public funders and public or private providers. As such, it can be used in a multitude of ways including: serving as the basis of a quality assurance/ program monitoring effort; framing the parameters of employment services' contract negotiations with providers; informing agency discussions around quality that may occur in meetings, conferences, retreats, community forums, or bidders' conferences.
